Detailed Description
|
A sparkling 17" collar of blue/purple flecked bluestone* slices spaced with 14K and Swarovski crystals features a 24K ruby amethyst Venetian glass highlight bead.
*Bluestone is a man-made gemstone originally created in monasteries and first used by the Italians during the renaissance in religious jewelry and stained glass. For a long time it was a closely guarded secret as to how they made it, and to this day it remains the primary source of income for that monastery, even though it is commercially made elsewhere. Some legends claim goldstone was discovered by alchemists during their lifelong quest to change base metals into gold.
Whatever the origin, bluestone is a crystalline form of gypsum, feldspar and copper, which when heated produces thousands of glittering sparkles against a dark blue background. Bluestone is believed to store energy in its wearers. The copper flecks are supposed to help with inflammation and increase circulation throughout the body. Many high-end designers use this stone for its brilliance and versatility.
