I recently attended a show at the Javitz Center in NY and stocked up on some stunning brand new Amy Kahn Russell earrings and pins.
This limited edition pin/pendant is rare and amazingly beautiful and one of my personal favorites . It features two brass Japanese sword menuki* cranes flying around the sun, which represents freedom as they become one with the great bright light, a favorite subject of Japanese art. The crane is referred to as "the bird of happiness" in Japanese culture. In the center is an intricate large Czech glass highlight enclosed in raised glass with gold studs all set on a sterling silver back. Wear as a pin or pendant and with matching earrings if you choose. 2-1/4" x 1-1/5"
*The Menuki - Parts of a Japanese Katana. The menuki are the decorative metal ornaments the are woven under the tsuka-ito (handle wrapping). These ornaments were originally made to hide the mekugi pins that secure the tsuka to the tang of the blade. They are normally positioned forward on one side and back on the other.
