Rare Smithsonite & Blue Apatite Bar Pendant on Micro Faceted Neon Apatite Chain - SOLD

$298.00

Product Description

Another one of a kind beauty you won't see anywhere!  It features an unusual pendant with large Smithsonite* and Apatite horizontal bars sturdily set in sterling silver. I chose a double chain of micro-faceted gold coated pyrite and rare neon apatite.  I prefer the chains nesting with the apatite on the outside and the gold pyrite on the inside but feel free to twist them if you like. The necklace also features a vintage titanium sterling safety catch clasp. Very elegant and unusual.  19"  Pendant 2" x 3/4"

*Smithsonite is actually one of two zinc based minerals previously known as calamine and hemimorphite (a rich azure blue).  For many years, smithsonite and hemimorphite where thought to be the same mineral. However in 1803 renowned British Chemist and mineralogist, James Smithson, realized they were different stones achieving the honor of having this mineral named after him. Due to the rarity of gem-quality smithsonite, it is primarily sought by gem collectors and rarely found in jewelry.
