A gorgeous amethyst banded stalactite* pendant hangs from a collar of faceted grade AAA ametrine rondels. 18" pendant 2" x 2" NOTE: No two stalactite pendants are identical but all interesting and beautiful.
*Stalactite comes from the Greek word for "drip" and is a mineral formation that hangs from the ceiling or wall of limestone caves. This solution travels through the rock until it reaches an edge and if it is the on the roof of the cave it will drip down in needle-like shapes. Every stalactite begins with a single mineral-filled drop of water. When the drop falls, it leaves behind a thin ring of calcite. Each subsequent drop that falls deposits another ring. Eventually these rings form a very narrow hollow tube known as a "soda straw" When formations on the ceiling and floor over time eventually meet, they fuse into fascinating columns, some of the more famous are wonders of the world. wow the picture is beautiful but when I got this piece I was blown away. The best quality of ametrine I have ever seen. And the stalactite took it to a whole new level. Definitely an heirloom piece for me. Thanks Bess
