*Conglomerate jasper forms when a beach or riverbed of individual rounded pebbles fills with mud and sand, cementing the pebbles and burying them under water. Over a long period, the weight of the material compresses the sand, mud and stones into a solid conglomerate rock with amazing bold and organic patterns and colors. These deposits mostly come from Canadian glaciers. Early British settlers nicknamed them "pudding stones" because they resembled suet pudding with cherries.
