Product Description
This hand-painted Russian lacquered miniature features a portrait of the beautiful Lucretzia Borgia in profile with complex pearl encrusted hairdo against a radiant background of deep blues, violet and gold. The menacing serpent twisted around her gold necklace symbolizes her poisonous cunning. The black onyx pendant (1-3/4" x 3/4") has been painstakingly covered with many layers of oil paint, egg tempura, gold foil, and lacquer to create the dramatic effect. The pendant, crowned with a 14K gold rondel and 24K Swarovski crystal, hangs from a gold wire wrapped chain of white freshwater pearls and tiny sparkling Swarovski crystals. 28"

The lavish use of gold throughout the portrait is so befitting such an infamous character. I have read many historical novels about her and I can imagine the image portrayed. The attached chain/necklace is so delicate as to attract attention but also not to take your focus of the entrancing woman. I cannot place it in a list of favorites because of it's alluring attraction to my eyes. It is too beautiful to be placed in any list.

This beautiful pendant of Lucretia Borgia exceeded my expectations so much that I convinced my Mom to purchase a similar one. That of The Girl With The Pearl Earring, so we could trade them. It's absolutely lovely and I received it very soon after ordering it with a very nice thank you postcard.
