I was totally excited when I recently discovered a natural bicolor strand of Indicolite*, the rarest of all tourmalines, one of the most sought after colors in the tourmaline family. The tube cut is simple but the stones rare and magnificent, separated with tourmaline rondels and featuring a vintage prehnite clasp.
*Like most tourmaline, Indicolite which is a pure blue is extremely rare, and most specimens have some green secondary hue. A teal or blue-green color is quite common in indicolite. The purer blues will tend to be found only in small sizes, often under 1 carat. Larger stones will tend to have a stronger green component.
