I've never really studied "moss" aquamarine before but it is rare and has fascinating tones. This is a beauty and will become one of your favorite necklaces. It features 3 strands of "moss aquamarine" Candy Kiss gems named because they are exceptionally well faceted creating a symmetrical Candy Kiss shape. The gems are top drilled to show the petite and sparkling bodies of these gleaming beads held with limited edition Venetian glass hand-painted porcelain flower stations* with faceted moss aquamarine strands on each side leading to a mabe pearl sterling clasp. 22" ONLY ONE!
* Moss Aquamarine is a variety of the rare and precious Beryl family which is colored by iron trace elements that form minute internal characteristics giving the stone a moss-like appearance. ... In the olden days, sailors carried the Moss Aquamarine in their chests to ensure safe passage through wild waves.
*A longtime Venetian beadmaker dreamed these elaborate multi textured beads over the summer during his August vacation. Not telling anyone, not even his wife or daughter, he began working with a childhood friend who paints porcelain in Venice. They are his exclusive creation. Making this unique bead takes two skills, first the making of the Murano Glass beads and secondly, the painting of the porcelain and then firing the porcelain to the glass. They are 3 dimension and exquisite. They are first made as the bead, here using 24kt gold foil and then the hand painting of the porcelain is done with a final firing. Will not be getting more of these.

The necklace is very finely made, and lies nicely around my neck. The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the color is not like the photo on the website. The actual necklace is very pale blue and light olive green. Pretty, but not as dramatic as the photo. I have ordered several pieces from this vendor, and all the others have been true to the photo. I will still wear it with pleasure.
